For the embossment of the iconsthe author uses an old Bulgarian technique, known as 'alchyia': he spreads primer on the surface of the piece of wood and after it dries out, the icon is then covered with a thin layer of decorative sheet. After the artist is done with the painting, he applies a wax finishing on top, in order to preserve its colors.

Plamen Malinov is a talented iconographer. His studio is based in Etara, Bulgaria and he gratuated from the Arts Academy in Sofia and has been practising his art for more than 24 years.
